Tips/
Tip of the Week:
Customize Your Enclosure Icon Image Like a Real Podcaster
Not satisfied with the small speaker that Radio displays whenever I attach an enclosure to my rss feed, otherwise known as "podcast", I set out on a quest to change my enclosure icon image. Follow along and change yours too.
See this tired, old white speaker? Borrrring!
See this? Now we're talking! How did I do this? Read on...
Step one. Visit Peter's site for podcasting icons or find an icon elsewhere if you like. Download the one you want and drop it into your Radio UserLand:www:images folder. Check your Events Log, find the image you just upstreamed and click on it. Copy the URL.
Now, visit this Radio preferences page where you can customize the images that Radio displays. For this tip, we are just going to change the Enclosure icon.
Click in the Enclosure field and replace the URL with the URL you copied earlier. If you don't know the dimensions of the image, remove the height and width numbers. Or, better yet, find out the width and height using a graphics program and enter them.
For my site, I dropped an image named podcast-lg3.gif in my images folder. After Radio upstreamed it, I made the following changes to my Enclosure field. (Notice that I added a right alignment as well?
Enclosure field before
Enclosure field after
Now, as you can see from my latest podcast on iceplant radio, I have a chic new image that represents a podcast I can be proud of.
